Congregation Ahavath Sholom has three Shabbat youth services. All services begin at 10:30 AM every Shabbat, year-round.
The New Stars (of David) is geared toward younger children (birth through age 3-ish) with very limited attention spans, and toward anyone intimidated by a more formal service. Children learn the most basic prayers.
Davening Dynamos is geared toward children who can participate in a service environment (pre-K-ish – 2nd grade-ish). Children learn the majority of prayers and take turns leading them.
Both the New Stars of David and Davening Dynamos begin with a snack based on the week’s parashah, and further study the parashah through theater. These groups meet in the CAS Library.
Shul Scholars is geared toward 4th grade and up. The Scholars participate in in-depth Torah study and learn the meaning and history of the prayers. Shul Scholars are encouraged to join the main congregation prior to the start of their separate study, and will generally join the main service for Musaf. The Shul Scholars meet in the Brachman Parlor.
